Growing Conditions

Granite Hill Vineyard

Bell Mountain was the first Texas-contained American Viticultural Area in the state, established in 1986. Ten years later, the 30 acres of Granite Hill Vineyards were planted, making up over one-fifth of the acres planted at the semi-high altitude in the region. The grape varieties planted there are the hardy varieties that grow in coastal Bordeaux, and white Trebbiano.

From a vineyard planted by our very own William "Bill" Blackmon in 1996 to grape varieties that he loves: Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and, of course, Merlot. While the grapes from this vineyard have made our flagship wine Enchanté every year, each have enough character to bottle separately, and even block by block.
