Perissos Vineyard & WineryPortejasPortejas has returned, and the 2018 vintage of our fortified dessert wine is proving well worth the wait! This Portejas has been barrel aged for six years, a long oxidative aging that has produced a wonderfully complex, robust and satisfying end-of-meal (or anytime) sipping experience. The hue is a deep tawny garnet, and the pronounced nose explodes with caramel, coffee, chocolate, fig, walnut, raisin and black fruit hints. On the palate, the wine is medium sweet, with a substantial, syrupy mouth- feel confirming the aromatics balanced by bright acidity, ample alcohol warmth and a long, rich caramel toffee finish. A beautiful accompaniment to hard cheeses like aged gouda, gruyere and cheddar and a full variety of desserts, especially crème brulee and chocolate dishes. Serve slightly below room temperature.
