Nose

the pronounced nose explodes with caramel, coffee, chocolate, fig, walnut, raisin and black fruit hints.

Palate

On the palate, the wine is medium sweet, with a substantial, syrupy mouth- feel confirming the aromatics balanced by bright acidity, ample alcohol warmth and a long, rich caramel toffee finish.

Winemaking

Portejas has returned, and the 2018 vintage of our fortified dessert wine is proving well worth the wait!  This Portejas has been barrel aged for six years, a long oxidative aging that has produced a wonderfully complex, robust and satisfying end-of-meal (or anytime) sipping experience.

Appearance

The hue is a deep tawny garnet.

Food Pairing

A beautiful accompaniment to hard cheeses like aged gouda, gruyere and cheddar and a full variety of desserts, especially crème brulee and chocolate dishes.  Serve slightly below room temperature.
