Mark started his wine journey many years ago when he and his wife Janet were living overseas, enjoying delicious wines from around the world. He had a dream that one day he would own a vineyard and produce exceptional wines. In 2018, he completed the UC Davis viticulture and enology certificate program and launched into making wines at home from kits and later, from grapes. His passion for growing led him and Janet to invest in 28 acres of raw land in the Texas Hill Country where he planted several varietals well-suited to the Texas heat: Mourvedre, Tannat, Aglianico, Fiano, Touriga Nacional and Malvasia Bianca. He led their efforts to develop the vineyard, tasting room and various amenities to open a beautiful, modern tasting space overlooking the estate vineyard.
